It's a milestone for Mbaitufm

Mbaitu FM has finally gone
live on three frequencies

By Anchor
Reporter

It is a
major breakthrough for the pioneering Kamba fm station that first went on air
in 2005 on 100.3 Mhz. but was moved to 92.5Mhz by the then Communications
Commission of Kenya(CCK).

The station
has had to endure with the single frequency even as competitors were given four
frequencies till a year ago when the regulatory authority- Communications
Authority (CA) granted two new frequencies- 100.4 and 100.5.
The station,
incorporated under Eastern Broadcasting Corporation activated 100.5 at Mbui
Nzau hill last year and in April 2016, activated 100.4 at Kyalilini Hill in
Kitui.
100.5 Mhz
covers particularly Makueni County and is heard along Nairobi- Mombasa road
from Salama down to Voi and Taveta in Coast region, Loitokitok in Kajiado
County, Kitui South and parts of Arusha.
100.4 is
dedicated to Kitui and Mwingi people though it spills to parts of Makueni,
entire Yatta, Masinga, Mwea and Embu.
The mother
frequency of 92.5 Mhz that beams a powerful voice from the heights of Kisekini
on Iveti Hills covers vast areas of the three Ukambani counties and is
outstanding in Machakos County in particular. Its footprint is unmistakable in
Machakos Town, Kathiani, Athi River, Kangundo, Kiambu and Thika. It also hits Kitui
and Mwingi townships, Mbooni, Kilome, and Kajiado.
Mbaitu fm
streams live on its website www.mbaitufm.co.ke,
streamer, runs a fan page on facebook- mbaitufm-The Radio Station a twitter
handle @mbaitufm.
The big
upgrade has seen the station acquire new and powerful transmitters for the
sites, upgraded studio equipment to produce what is arguably the most powerful
voice on the stable of teaming Kamba vernacular stations.
“This is
the first step we have made to face this competitive market and the fight for
the airwaves will be unrelenting”, said Managing Director Martin Masai. He
thanked the multitude of listeners who daily tune to Mbaitu, adding that the
upgrade was in response to the fans’ unshakable loyalty to the station.

Other Kamba
stations include Syokimau Fm, Musyi, Athiani, Wikwatyo, County, Mwatu and Thome
FM.
