Machakos County kicks off tomorrow a national recruitment drive spearheaded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, aimed at providing 20,000 job opportunities for Kenyans seeking employment abroad.

The Cabinet Secretary for Labour, Dr. Alfred Mutua who also served as the first Governor of Machakos, is urging job seekers to prepare thoroughly by ensuring they have all the required documentation, including certificates of good conduct and passports, accessible through the e-Citizen platform.

The exercise, catering to both skilled and unskilled workers, will launch at the Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind before moving to Makueni on Thursday and Kitui on Friday.

Dr. Mutua emphasized that applicants who have taken the initiative to meet these requirements will be given priority during the selection process.

“This recruitment drive presents a significant chance for Kenyans to secure meaningful employment opportunities abroad and improve their livelihoods. Preparedness is crucial for success,” Dr. Mutua stated.

The initiative will eventually be rolled out in all counties, with the government targeting to fill the 20,000 positions as part of its broader effort to address unemployment and provide avenues for economic growth.
