It is official: Public Communications Chief Officer Joyce Gituro has quit Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s government.
It comes days after rumours went round concerning her resignation last week- which she denied.

Charles Mutinda, the chief officer in the office of the Governor, was today loaded with the docket – never mind that he has no media or public relations background.
According to government structure, the Chief Officer for Communications reports to Finance Minister Muia Kuyu, a known hindrance to media freedom.
Gituro follows in the steps of her predecessor Daniel Mule, who also quit without giving reasons. It is believed the two seasoned media personalities quit one after another due to the hostilities they face from bloggers hired to serve the government. The bloggers are held in high regard, and their word is law – a situation that leave the media professionals frustrated to the core.
They form part of a growing number of top officials who have resigned from the county executive. This week, County Attorney Mr. James Kathili also resigned.
A letter dated today, which is signed by the County Secretary Dr.Muya Ndambuki, which is addresed to the ministers and Chief Officers, requests them to give Mutinda all the cooperation he requires.
Mutinda’ appointment in an acting capacity now confirms Gituro’s exit within five months of her appointment.
Last week, she told The Anchor that she was on a 10-day leave.
