Ex Chief of Staff Rescues his Thwake Resort in Daring Move
In a classic case of the student outsmarting the master, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s top advisor, Lawrence Ngovi, has served his boss a cold dish of strategy—Thwake style.

Sources whisper that as the Governor’s close emissaries buzzed around a local bank like bees on nectar—intent on scooping up Ngovi’s Thwake Resort through auction—Ngovi was two moves ahead.
Apparently, just when they thought they’d cornered him, Ngovi pulled out the Joker Card. And the move? Vintage Machakos politics with a dash of irony. For him, it was doomed if you do and doomed if you don’t.
He enlisted none other than one of the Governor’s most sidelined (read: politically excommunicated) former allies—yes, the one who’s been missing from the Whitehouse WhatsApp group since that small falling-out.
With auctioneers sharpening their pencils and polishing their hammers, Ngovi’s unlikely saviour swooped in.
Armed with street-hardened knowledge of auctioneer antics, the ally moved quickly, coughing up Kes 32 million in crisp cash and tossing in another Kes 2 million for the auctioneers’ troubles. Talk about paying your way out of trouble—literally.
Why the dramatic rescue? Word on the street is that Ngovi, after sensing the silent treatment from key offices at the Whitehouse, decided to fend for himself. “He realised he was the only one broke soul in the power house,” a well-placed political source quipped to The Anchor, “so he swallowed his pride and called the one person the Governor wouldn’t in the prevaling circumstances.” He got him. And Ngovi was sorted after a communal summit. The rest are details. Who was it? Well, keep guessing, won’t you?
While Ngovi has since taken a few days off—ostensibly to cool off from the drama—the political heat is only rising. After all, in Machakos, real estate isn’t the only thing that gets auctioned—so do loyalties, strategies, and grudges.
As for Thwake Resort? Still standing. Can’t bankrupt Ngovi! As for political alliances? Well, those are currently under renovation, if at all.
