Machakos, June 10, 2025 — In a dramatic show of authority, Machakos County Assembly Speaker Anne Kiusya today suspended nine Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) for eight sittings.
They include Majority Leader Nicholas Nzioka, Deputy Speaker Stephen Mwanthi, immediate for minority leader Judas Ndawa, Felix Ngui, Raphael Nzau, Charles Mbuva, Phoebe Mawa, Anna Ndilo, and Catherine Kyee. They have been the most acidic characters in the assembly who have made themselves available as Wavinya’s hachetmen(and women).
It means that Wavinya’s business in the assembly will grind to a halt until the time she wakes up to that reality and finds better minds to advance her agenda.

The speaker suspended the MCAs over what she described as “shocking, shameful and atrocious” conduct that disrupted House proceedings on April 8. And true to the attributes, Kiusya was whisked out of the chamber as the team, backed by Wiper MCAs, breathed fire and brimstone as the speaker delivered the communication.
The suspended MCAs, mostly aligned with Wiper Party, were cited for a litany of breaches, including assault, false imprisonment of the Speaker, property destruction, and inciting violence within the Assembly precincts.
In a strongly worded statement, Speaker Kiusya said the House had gathered video footage, photographs, and eyewitness accounts implicating the nine in orchestrated chaos that left the Assembly in a disarray.
The statement, designated as Communication from the Chair was one among two others that were not entirely read on the floor due to violence experienced in the chamber.
Part of the reasons cited by the speaker were on display in the chamber as Wiper MCAs went wild, forcing the speaker to be evacuated for her safety.
Once in her office, Kiusya released the statements with remarks ” Deemed as Communicated” and directed the clerk to implement her orders.
Kiusya also announced long-delayed leadership changes in the Assembly, finally executing directives from Wiper Party Secretary General Shakila Abdalla dating back to November 2024. Felix Ngui was removed as the Majority Party’s representative to the County Assembly Service Board (CASB), and replaced with Winfred Mutua. Dee Kivuva was also appointed Deputy Majority Whip in place of Mutua.
The Speaker disclosed that she had initially delayed implementing the party’s directives after threats from Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s camp, warning she would face impeachment if she enforced Wiper’s internal changes.
The developments come on the day the Assembly resumed sittings following a period of suspension, suggesting a deliberate effort by Speaker Kiusya to reassert control and realign House leadership in defiance of political pressure.
Observers view the move as both a bold stand for order and a calculated gamble in Machakos’ increasingly factional political landscape.
