KILUNGU, Makueni County — A Kilungu court has sentenced a 56-year-old man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of serial sexual offences against four children, including his own.

The convict, Mule Maundu, was convicted for defiling four minors aged between six and 13 years in Kitaingo village, Mukaa, in 2023. Two of the victims were his biological daughters, while the others were children from a neighbouring homestead.
According to court records, the children, aged six, nine, twelve and thirteen, were subjected to repeated sexual assault, leaving them with grave physical injuries and lifelong emotional scars. Maundu was first arraigned in October 2023 following multiple complaints from parents and guardians.
Senior Principal Magistrate Caroline C. Kemei, presiding over the matter, issued four separate judgements. Maundu was convicted on all counts of defilement. In two of the rulings, he was handed life sentences; in the other two, he was convicted and sentenced in accordance with the law.
The magistrate condemned Maundu’s actions as “incestuous, serial, and in blatant violation of the innocence and dignity of children entrusted to his care.” She stressed that such acts not only destroy lives but also betray the sanctity of family and community.
Maundu has been granted 14 days to appeal the decision.
The ruling has sparked strong reactions in the community, with many residents expressing relief at the conviction but also alarm at the hidden nature of child abuse within households- which makes them scenes of crime.
Local child rights advocates have urged parents, relatives, and neighbours to remain vigilant and report suspicious conduct early to protect minors from predators.
