Katelembu Farming and Cooperative Society today ushered in a new era of leadership after a court-ordered Special General Meeting (SGM) swept aside the long-standing team led by Wilson Muema, popularly known as Muthungulule.

Members voted in fresh faces to both the Management and Supervisory Committees, signaling a dramatic shift in the running of one of Machakos County’s most storied cooperatives.
George Kyalo Mutua emerged as Chairman of the Management Committee, with Andrew elected Vice Chairman. Silvester Mutua takes up the Secretary’s post. Other members include Patrick Wambua, Charles Nzuki, Kilonzo Munyao and Joseph Ndua.
The Supervisory Committee will now be chaired by Margret Ndinda Mutunga, with Janet Kali as Secretary and Joyce Mulili as member.
The shake-up ends the tenure of Wilson Muema (Muthungulule) and his team, whose control of the society had become a flashpoint for disputes over land allocation, governance, and accountability Today’s outcome follows months of wrangles and litigation, culminating in the court directive for a fresh poll.
The new leaders have pledged to restore trust, safeguard members’ assets, and accelerate long-delayed issuance of title deeds — a key sticking point that has kept Katelembu in the headlines.
