A bouncer at Jam Rest Club in Machakos town was shot dead in the early hours of Christmas Day after a confrontation with a patron over the ejection of a woman from the club, police have said.
The bouncer was shot three times — once in the chest and twice in the legs — during an altercation that began inside the club and spilled outside shortly after midnight.

He was rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Machakos Sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) head Mr. Nzioka Singi said the incident was triggered when the bouncer forcefully escorted a woman out of the premises under the club’s right-of-admission rules. The woman was in the company of the suspect.
The suspect is Kennedy Mutie, a private contractor and farmer from the Makaveti area of Kalama Sub-County. An occurrence book entry at Machakos Police Station indicates that Mutie is a licensed firearm holder.
After the shooting, the suspect briefly left the scene but was later lured to Machakos Police Station in the company of the woman, where both were arrested and placed in custody.
The victim’s body is being preserved at Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary.

The family has been engaging authorities over moving the body to a private mortuary for improved preservation ahead of a post-mortem examination.
Investigators are now examining the circumstances under which the firearm was discharged, including whether the use of force was justified, as detectives reconstruct the final moments leading to the fatal shooting.
