A man died today morning after allegedly slitting his throat using a knife in Nthangu Sub-location, Wote Sub-County, Makueni County.

The act has left the entire village in shock and disbelief.
Howerver Wote Location Chief Mutuku Makumbi confirmed the report, saying the tragedy unfolded as the man’s wife was within the homestead.

The man, Mutinda Mweleli, picked a knife from his son and proceeded to the bathroom.

According to the chief, the woman had stepped out of the main house to a detached kitchen to make tea,possibly for the man.

There are scant details as to the age of the victim, or if he was mentally indisposed at the time of the incident.
His wife reported seeing drops of blood at the bathroom when she returned to the house. “Upon opening the bathroom, she found her husband lying on the floor with blood dripping after he slit  his throat. The knife is presumed to have been found on the floor.
Chief Makumbi said the man had been living with his wife for many years. “The woman found him bleeding heavily in the bedroom after he had cut his own neck”, the administrator added.
The man is believed to have died from excessive blood loss before help could arrive.
He urged communities to speak out whenever they face challenges in their homes without waiting till issues translate to fatalities.
