The Machakos Senior Principal Magistrate today  granted the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) a three-day extension to complete investigations into the murder of a Machakos bouncer- Dominic Munuve Mutisya.

The Suspects: Kennedy Mutie Mbithi(L) and(R) Anne Mueni Muthama

The order by Ms L.B Koech came after an application by State Counsel Edith Otieno.

Machakos Senior Principal Magistrate Ms. L.B Koech

Otieno told the court that investigators needed three more days to retrieve and process samples submitted to the Government Chemist.
Koech ordered that the suspects, Kennedy Mutie Mbithi and Ann Mueni Muthama, be detained at the Machakos Police Station as police finalise forensic and technical investigations.
During the proceedings, Seasoned Nairobi Lawyer Mr.Morris Kimuli came on record for the defence of the suspects, joining Advocate Davidson Makau.
In granting the application,  SPM  Koech extended the detention period to January 8, 2026.
The case arises from a Christmas Day shooting outside Jamrest Bar and Restaurant in Machakos town, where Munuve was shot and later died at Machakos Level Five Hospital.

Police recovered three spent cartridges at the scene and a firearm suspected to be the murder weapon from the first suspect.
This is the second extension granted to investigators, following an earlier one issued on December 29, 2025, by Machakos Chief Magistrate J. Mutie, when it was reported that the prime suspect was indisposed.
