Some Officials Re-appointed back to their previous dockets amid a new unannounced Government Structure

Governor Wavinya Ndeti this evening announced a sweeping reshuffle of her government affecting 6 ministers and 10 chief officers.

The changes were announced in a dispatch by her County Secretary Dr. Muya Ndambuki, saying the changes take place immediately.

He said the objective  of the changes was to  optimize delivery of service to the people of Machakos.
The Governor  required all affected officers to begin handover procedures in accordance with established regulations.
The reorganization of the cabinet, or County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), involves several high-profile shifts. Rita Ndunge moves from Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperative Development to lead Youth and Sports. It is her fifth transfer in the cabinet.

Mr.John Kilonzo transitions from Trade and Industry to take over the Agriculture portfolio. Sharon Mutua, previously in charge of Gender and Youth, has been re-assigned to the department of Trade, Industry, Tourism, Innovation, Gender and Social Welfare.
Mr.Nathaniel Nganga returns to Lands, Urban Development, Housing carrying way the Roads docket with him.  Ms.Annastacia Munyaka moves from Lands, Urban Development and Energy where she has hardly served for five months to take over Devolution. Joel Nzomo rounds out the cabinet changes by moving from Devolution to Public Works and where the Energy docket has landed.
An analysis of the changes shows that government departments have been moved across ministries- signalling a struggling thought process resulting to unannounced reorganisation of  the gazetted government structure.
The reshuffle extends deeply into the ranks of Chief Officers. Tobias Mutua has been moved from Economic Planning to Public Service and Performance Management, effectively swapping roles with Mr. Lawrence Mwanza.

Mr. Simeon Kitheka has been added Agriculture and Environment on top of his current Sanitation job.

Mr.Vincent Musili moves to Vocational Training, while  Dr. Juliana Wambua has been relegated to lead  only the Machakos Youth Service.
Mr. Simon Kirima has been  moved back to the Energy docket, with Abdullahi Guliye transitioning to Industry and Innovation.
Mr. Antony Mutunga has returned to Lands and Physical Planning, while Mercy Ndululu takes on an expanded role in County Administration, Citizen Engagement and Public Participation- a new function. Finally, Benedict Ngumbau takes additional responsibility  beyond Water and Irrigation to serve as the Acting Chief Officer for Urban Development and Housing, replacing Maureen Mwende who was suspended in December over the Wavinya’s garbage collection headache.
These structural changes,  signal a broad effort by the Ndeti administration to correct her missteps of the previous year by reassignment  of officials she had previously removed from various dockets, under the same promise of providing better services.
