Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen today vowed swift action against anyone implicated in the ongoing probe into alleged human trafficking and illegal organ harvesting in the country.
Speaking in Machakos during the final day of his Lower Eastern tour, the CS emphasized that those found culpable will face the full force of the law.
He said the government would act based on findings from oversight agencies such as the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) and the Health Ministry’s newly formed taskforce.
“We will be guided by reports from the specialized agencies, and anyone implicated will be dealt with according to the law,” Murkomen told journalists after commissioning the new DCI offices in Machakos County.
At a public stakeholders’ forum dubbed Jukwaa la Usalama, Murkomen assured residents that his ministry would respond promptly once formal complaints are lodged.
“If investigations reveal transgressions, anomalies, or fraud, the law will not spare anyone, regardless of their status in society,” he stressed.
The CS commended Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale for setting up a taskforce to probe the allegations and issue recommendations.
He, however, revealed that no specific complaints had been received yet but assured the public that any emerging cases would be escalated to the police and regulatory agencies without delay.
Addressing broader security concerns, Murkomen urged all public and private health facilities to install CCTV cameras, citing recent security breaches at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
“CCTV surveillance will support ongoing investigations and help secure facilities,” he said.
He further encouraged business owners across Lower Eastern to invest in CCTV systems to deter crime and assist law enforcement.
Murkomen noted that the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and DCI Director Amin Mohammed would announce the next steps once the investigations conclude.
The CS was accompanied by PS Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, and Eastern Regional Commissioner Paul Rotich, Machakos County Commissioner Josephine Ouko, among other senior security and administration officials.
