The investigation into the shocking killing of three young men in Machakos has taken a major step forward after four additional suspects were arraign
.ed in court and remanded.

This comes as detectives cast a wide dragnet that has already seen at least 15 people arrested and questioned.
The four suspects — Dominic Muinde Paul, Keith Mutuku Muli, Esther Mumbua Mwololo and Francis Mutinda Kimeu — appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Mercy Thibaru at the Machakos Law Courts on Thursday over allegations that they participated in the events that led to the deaths of Kennedy Katuu, 29, Stanley Muthungu, 22, and Charles Mutiso, 25.
The prosecution, led by Linda Wafula, successfully applied for 21 days to allow detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to complete investigations into the case.
The court granted the request and ordered that the four suspects be remanded at Machakos Police Station pending further investigations.
They are expected back in court on July 1, 2026.The latest arrests bring to five the number of suspects currently in custody in connection with the killings.
The first suspect, Christopher Mwenda Robert- a miraa dealer-was arraigned earlier this week and remains in custody as investigations continue.
The families of the deceased were represented in court by advocate Mutava Musyoki, who has been following the case on their behalf as pressure mounts for justice.
The deaths of Katuu, Muthungu and Mutiso have sparked outrage across Machakos County and beyond, with residents, students and civil society groups demanding accountability for what many have described as a brutal act of mob injustice.
According to accounts provided by the families, the three young men had just left a local entertainment venue after watching the UEFA Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal when tragedy struck.
What should have been a routine walk home allegedly turned fatal after one of the young men was knocked by a vehicle driven by Christopher Mwenda Robert.
The families claim the trio confronted the driver and demanded accountability over the incident. During the ensuing confrontation, Mwenda allegedly called for reinforcement from nearby boda boda riders and raised an alarm that the young men were thieves attempting to hijack him.
What followed, according to the families and witnesses, was a violent attack that ultimately claimed the lives of the three men.
As investigations gather pace, sources familiar with the probe have told The Anchor that detectives are employing a wide range of investigative techniques to identify everyone involved.
The DCI is reportedly analysing CCTV footage from multiple locations, including surveillance cameras installed at petrol stations and businesses along routes believed to have been used by suspects before and after the incident.
Investigators are also examining mobile phone footprints, social media activity and eyewitness accounts in an effort to reconstruct the sequence of events and establish individual roles.
The widening dragnet has reportedly triggered anxiety in parts of Majengo and among some night-shift boda boda operators, with sources indicating that several individuals have gone into hiding amid fears of further arrests.
With five suspects already before the courts and investigators continuing to analyse digital and forensic evidence, the case appears to be entering a critical phase.
The latest court proceedings represent the strongest indication yet that authorities are moving closer to establishing who was responsible for the deaths that have shaken Machakos and galvanized public demands for justice.
The coming weeks are expected to be crucial as detectives complete investigations and prosecutors determine whether additional suspects will face charges in a case that has become a defining test of accountability, mob justice and the rule of law in Machakos County.
