Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s recent reshuffle has raised eyebrows, suggesting deeper issues within Agriculture Minister Catherine Mutanu’s department. The restructuring negatively impacted four Chief Officers who reported directly to Mutanu. Among them were Zipporah Mutunga, former Chief Officer for Climate Change under the Water Docket, and Anthony Mutua Mutunga, who managed Cooperatives.

Anthony had been suspended over allegations of cash misappropriation, which he denied. Reports emerged suggesting that his suspension was linked to an alleged demand for cash by Governor Ndeti. The Anchor amidst the confusion surrounding his fate, wrote “Only time will tell”. As initially reported, Anthony has now been dismissed, lending credence to The Anchor’s earlier suspicions.

Additionally, Abdi Guliye, the influential Chief Officer for Water, and Vincent Musili, the immediate Chief Officer of Agriculture, have been reassigned to the County Secretary’s office. In their new roles, they lack office space, desks, and the authority to incur expenditures that they previously held. A source familiar with the changes remarked, “They are now in Siberia. They will only earn salaries going forward.”

Efforts to reach Minister Catherine Mutanu for comment were unsuccessful as she did not respond to inquiries
