A chilling discovery has shocked residents of Mwingi after the bodies of four men were found dumped in a thicket near the main road linking Mwingi town to Nairobi.
The bodies were discovered on Tuesday afternoon close to the Galana oil depot in the Tyaa area, prompting an immediate response from police officers and local authorities.
Mwingi Central Sub-County Police Commander Antony Maina confirmed the incident, saying all four bodies were already in an advanced state of decomposition when they were found.
The condition of the bodies has complicated immediate efforts to establish the identities of the deceased or determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Police officers secured the scene before transferring the bodies to the mortuary at Mwingi Level 4 Hospital, where they will be preserved pending post-mortem examinations and identification.
The discovery has raised concern among residents, with investigators now working to establish who the four men were, where they came from, and whether foul play was involved.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public with information regarding missing persons in the area to report to the nearest police station as investigations continue.
The incident adds to growing concerns over unexplained deaths and disappearances in parts of the region, with residents calling for swift investigations to uncover the truth behind the grim discovery.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
